We need to have the courage to move ahead!
Jan 09, 2026
Life many times keeps us stuck. Comfort is a blessing, but it can also be a curse.
I release my vision for those in need of inspiration and tender support through similar life situations.
I realize in my own life the "capture" of a well-designed human life: a lot of comfort, wonderful friends and family around, a beautiful house, and enough material wealth to accomplish my eager desires… but still, emptiness feels real sometimes. It comes from time to time, calling for a higher meaning, a different path, and a deeper love.
When life gets too busy, we forget to listen to our own hearts. We go with the mind and get stuck in a well-designed life, subtly still living by the rules of society; and it was made by the Divine to be like this. There is nothing wrong with it, as long as we cannot hear a deeper call. So, what shall we do if the call is calling?
We must find the strength to pause and listen.
Get into a quiet place somewhere on this earth with fewer distractions and stay. Have patience with yourself. Do some grounding practices (meditation, yoga, singing, dancing, praying, light a candle) and enjoy the simplicity of life and the present moment in its emptiness. Be careful with the distractions of the mind: images, fantasies, and stories you tell yourself. Don’t let them in; don’t let them carry you away again. You can do this. We are all powerful, but we just forgot.
While you get to this place of stillness physically, start by having no expectations. Don’t say to yourself: “In three days, I will have my answers.” It doesn't work like that, and you will just end up with more frustration. I know it's hard, because we were conceived with and in expectations (from the moment our parents conceived us, with or without expectations of us or their own partners), but there is ONE moment when this can end. And it begins today, while reading these words. Trust it and start the process to be free—really and completely free, not only physically.
So, go there to that place physically first and stay for some days with yourself. Don’t expect it to be easy, and don’t expect it to be hard. Don’t be afraid, either. Whatever must come out of your consciousness will come out to be cleaned and will leave your system more pure.
By the end of that period, perhaps you will have a clearer understanding of whatever you were in search of. Write it down, as the world will try to pull you back in as soon as you return. Write it and read it before you sleep for as long as it takes to remember what you saw and what you want to do with your own life. Don’t give it away.
You have the full blessing to love—truly love—to truly be loved, and to have power over your own life. Keep in mind that sometimes we just cannot make the biggest jump all at once. We must take baby steps first; this is in the interest of our own health and out of respect for our own system. Don’t shock yourself; don’t bring trauma into your "human machine." Baby steps are enough. But start; this is the most important thing.
I can share an example from my own experience. I have always loved cooking, especially baking and creating nourishment through food. I feel very attuned to the science of Ayurveda, but my own path brought me to a corporate industry where I cannot use my hands and my heart in this way.
So, my baby steps are to start creating my own food—like little Dosha Granola bags, Ayurvedic cookies, gluten-free cakes, and specific Dosha tea combinations—and share them in my Sangha, with my friends, and with other fellow travelers I meet. It’s a baby step, but the Universe is listening and understanding. Baby steps always grow into "human steps." I have decided to trust the process of growing and expanding into a new version… and this all takes time. Remember this.
Some months ago, while I was in an unsettled situation with my own career, I wrote to my beloved spiritual father and friend, Krishna Das, asking for advice. I am ready today to share his words with you all:
"Through spiritual practice, we can learn to let go of all the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves! Then we will find the love that lives within us AS our true Self. We need to have courage to move ahead in our lives and not give in to despair and fear. There is no one judging us other than ourselves."
As today is a new day and the beginning of a new year, 2026, it’s the perfect moment to make your decisions and start something new. I encourage you to pick three words you want your life to represent (e.g., Freedom, Creativity, Service, Love) and write down why you want this—use only 5–7 words. If the "what" matches the "why," the path becomes much clearer.
So let's start today, and let yourself be inspired by the song below. Everything is possible, but everything starts with one thing, until it becomes “everything.”
May you have the courage to really try.
May you have the strength to treat yourself with kindness through each day.
May you have the trust that you will succeed.
Much love to all of you out there walking the same path,
Piara Ajeet Kaur
